Reminiscenza (Reminiscence), 1984

This stunning piece is a screaming protest of two of Angelini’s deepest oppositions. The first is that of war, but more specifically, the Fascist Italian invasion of Egypt during WWII (and their eventual crushing defeat) as represented by one of the Great Pyramids. The second is capitalism, infamously symbolized by the US half-dollar. These themes will appear time and again embodied in paint and canvas.
