Pioggia notturna (Angeli 0782)
Cactus, 1984
Blades of grass are a powerful symbol of unity and expansion. Here, Angeli incorporates this into his night time painting as a messenger of an impending uprising. “We must stand as one!” it seems to exclaim. Not all of the vegetation is green however. There are also blades of yellow (the reluctant ones) and gray (the fallen). The crescent moon shining in the sky represents the Roman goddess Trivia who was the underworld goddess of witchcraft. She wandered around at night haunting crossroads and graveyards. Powerful imagery here.
