The Hidden Smile

Verticality returns once again in this final piece of Pantaleoni’s early abstract series. From the top, the first two circles hover ominously above it all and are several lighter shades of blue than the others seen below just below. There’s a minor optical illusion/kaleidoscope effect occurring as we proceed further down. The two darker blue circles are peaking through a white hollowed out box almost like a colored filter. Yet, the orange rectangle produces a hidden “smile” seen through the little porthole. And the light blue background highlights this dramatically.
