During the same decade, Pantaleoni’s abstract experiments would fluctuate dramatically. This piece for example, is unlike anything he has done before. It’s so radically different in fact, that one would be forgiven for thinking it was another artist entirely. Notice how most of his standard shapes are nearly absent here, instead there are all manners of dark curves and swirling vortex patterns clumped together like knots on a wooden plank. The backdrop of blue and the random dabs of pinks and reds accentuate the piece.
